When the time comes for less doing & more being.
Slow down, turn down the noise & remember how to come home to yourself.
You’ve been the reliable one, the strong one.
The one who holds it all together.
Somewhere along the way you’ve forgotten yourself.
You can’t quite name it but you know something needs to change.
There’s a quiet way back to your own knowing.
A slow, steady path.
Welcome to your Slow Season.
You already know there has to a be a better way.
You’ve reached a point where the old ways aren’t working anymore.
The noise, the constant distraction, the never ending to do list, the pressure of it all is getting you nowhere.
But you don’t have a clue how to find your way out into clarity.
You’ve worn many hats, been many things to many people.
Part of you is secretly afraid there’s not even a “you” inside of you anymore. At least not one that you’d recognize.
The good news is that you’re still in there.
You’ve just been buried deep underneath the layers of being & doing for everyone & everything else.
The path back to your own knowing already exists.
Let’s walk this path together one slow step at a time.

Horses don't care what brought you here. They only feel what you're carrying.
In the presence of horses, the performance stops. These animals are exquisitely attuned to the nervous system. They respond not to what you say, but to what you bring. You don't need to ride. You don't need to know anything about horses. You only need to arrive.
As a certified equine coach, I guide you through the experience with conversation and intention, helping you notice, name, and sit with what arises. Some of what surfaces has words. Some of it lives deeper than that. Both are welcome here.
Sessions take place at horse properties and rescues across Coastal Virginia. Particularly meaningful for those who have been holding a great deal for a long time. Whether that's responsibility, grief, exhaustion, or the weight of a life that no longer fits.
60 minutes · In person · Coastal Virginia · No horse experience necessary. Location of session is shared after booking has been confirmed.

Your Questions, Answered

If you're standing at a turning point, or simply feeling the quiet pull that something needs to change, you're exactly who this work is for. Slow Season is for those who are ready to slow down, tune in, and return to themselves, whether that looks like a major life transition or just a persistent feeling that you've drifted a little far from shore.
You don't need to arrive with the right words or a clear sense of what you need. The only thing this work asks of you is a willingness to show up. That's enough to begin.
-
No. It’s important to be clear about that. Slow Season is not a substitute for therapy, mental health treatment, or medical care. I am not a licensed therapist or counselor.
What I offer is a space for reflection, nervous system care, and the kind of grounded, witnessed conversation that helps people reconnect with themselves. Many clients find this work deeply supportive alongside therapy but it is not the same thing, and it is not intended to be.
If you are currently navigating a mental health crisis or require clinical support, I would gently encourage you to seek care from a licensed professional. I'm happy to help point you in the right direction if needed.

-
Absolutely! Most people who come to this work have never spent time with horses before. No riding, no handling experience, and no prior knowledge is needed.
The Equine Guided Experience happens on the ground, in quiet relationship with the horse. You won't be asked to do anything that feels uncomfortable or unfamiliar. You will be in a safe, welcome space where the only thing that will be asked of you is to be yourself.
-
Once we've connected and I have a sense of where you are and what would serve you best, we can explore what an ongoing rhythm of work might look like together. Some people find that a series of sessions creates the continuity they're looking for. Others prefer to move one session at a time. Or experience them seasonally. We'll find what's right for you.
-
The most important thing you can do is arrive. Beyond that, very little preparation is needed.
For Zoom sessions, please choose a quiet distraction free environment.
For an Equine Guided Experience, wear comfortable weather appropriate clothing you don't mind getting a little earthy, closed-toe shoes, sunscreen, a hat & water bottle. Leave strong perfumes or heavily scented products at home as horses are sensitive to scent.
For all sessions come as you are. There is no right way to show up here.
-
Because each session is prepared for you with care and your time is held exclusively for you, I ask for at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule.
Sessions cancelled within 24 hours of your appointment and no-shows are non-refundable. If something unexpected arises, please reach out as soon as possible and we'll do our best to find a solution together.
-
The safety and wellbeing of both you and the horses is always the priority. In the event of severe or unsafe weather conditions, I reserve the right to reschedule your Equine Guided Experience at no penalty to you.
What qualifies as severe weather will be determined at my discretion, and you will be notified as early as possible and no later than the morning of your session. Your session fee will be fully transferred to your rescheduled date.
Mild weather including light rain, cool temperatures, overcast skies is part of the beauty of being outdoors and sessions will proceed as planned. Please dress comfortably for the conditions.
“Nickie coached me through a challenge I had been dealing with for a while and helped me identify what I really wanted in the situation. From there I was able to identify practical next steps to achieve my goal. Her coaching was empowering! I highly recommend working with her!”
